Managed IT Support for Businesses FAQs
What does Managed IT Support actually include?
Managed IT Support covers the day‑to‑day running, monitoring and protection of your entire IT environment. This typically includes helpdesk support, device management, patching, cyber security controls, backup management, Microsoft 365 administration, network monitoring, and proactive maintenance to prevent issues before they impact your business.
As your trusted partner, we act as your outsourced IT department, keeping everything secure, stable and compliant.
How much does Managed IT Support cost for a small business?
Costs vary depending on the number of users, devices and the level of security required, but most small businesses can expect a per‑user monthly fee. This usually includes unlimited remote support, monitoring, patching, and core cyber security tools.
Additional services such as advanced security, backup, or on‑site support may be added depending on your risk profile and compliance needs.
Should my business outsource IT support or keep it in‑house?
Outsourcing is often more cost‑effective for small and medium‑sized businesses.
With Advantage Cloud Solutions you gain access to a full team of specialists, 24/7 monitoring tools, and enterprise‑grade security that would be expensive to replicate internally.
In‑house IT works well for larger organisations, but most SMEs benefit from the flexibility, predictable costs and broader expertise we can deliver as a trusted partner.
How quickly should IT issues be resolved?
We offer clear SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for response and resolution times. Minor issues should be addressed within minutes, while more complex problems are triaged and escalated quickly.
The goal is to minimise downtime and keep your business operating smoothly, with proactive monitoring preventing many issues before they occur.
What’s the difference between break‑fix and Managed IT Support?
Break‑fix is reactive: you only call for help when something goes wrong, often leading to downtime, unpredictable costs and unresolved root causes. Managed IT Support is proactive: your systems are monitored, patched and secured continuously, reducing risk and preventing problems.
It’s a strategic, long‑term approach rather than a short‑term repair service.
How does Managed IT Support improve cyber security?
Leveraging our modern support service provides layered security controls such as endpoint protection, patch management, MFA enforcement, email security, vulnerability monitoring and backup management.
These measures significantly reduce the risk of ransomware, phishing and data breaches.
Advantage Cloud helps businesses achieve Cyber Essentials certification, ensuring your security meets UK best‑practice standards.
Can Managed IT Support help with Microsoft 365 and cloud services?
Yes. We will manage your full Microsoft 365 environment, including licensing, security policies, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, device management and Conditional Access.
We also support cloud migrations, data protection, backup, and ongoing optimisation to ensure your cloud services are secure, compliant and aligned with your business goals.
